The little animal that opens its mouth when you squeeze its sides.
Lihit Lab's PuniLabo pencil case is probably the most recognizable item in contemporary Japanese stationery: a soft silicone animal that opens when you squeeze its sides, as if it were yawning. It's not just a design gimmick — that wide mouth is exactly what lets you find things without emptying the case.
Why people love it
Opens wide: the zipper runs along the entire top. You can see everything inside at a glance, no digging.
Soft-touch silicone: the same material used across the PuniLabo line. Durable, easy to clean and nice to hold.
Stands on its own: set it on the table and it stays upright with its mouth open, doubling as a makeshift pen holder on any borrowed desk.
Not just for pencils: in Japan it's also used for cosmetics, toothbrushes, chargers and cables, or as a travel pouch.
The two designs we brought:
Brown bear (クマ): the collection classic.
Pink pig (ブタ): the most sought-after in the line, and the most shared on social media.
