Who's behind Karito Japan?
Who's behind Karito Japan?
Someone who walked into a stationery store in Shinjuku and was never the same again.
Hi, I'm Karito.
I live in Kunitachi, Tokyo.
The first stationery store I visited here was Tokyu Hands in Shinjuku. I had never seen so many products in one place — and what struck me most wasn't the sheer amount, but this: every object solved a problem I'd never imagined anyone could solve. A pair of scissors shaped like a stick, so compact it fits in a pencil case. Perfect. Discreet. Japanese.
From that day on I started looking for more. Other stores, other brands, other objects impossible to find in Venezuela.
At the end of 2025 I went to Bungu Hoshi Haku — Japan's biggest stationery fair. Seeing thousands of people take stationery so seriously made me think: this should exist in Venezuela. Not on that scale, of course. But in some form.
That's how Karito Japan was born.
I created Karito Japan for Venezuela. For a long time, that was the whole idea: that what dazzled me in Shinjuku would end up on a desk in Valencia, in Caracas, in Maracaibo.
But I live far away, and I know all too well what it's like to want something you can't get where you are. That feeling isn't Venezuelan or Japanese — it belongs to anyone who opens a notebook and wants the paper to live up to it. So the dream grew.
Today Karito Japan ships from Tokyo to Japan, the United States, Canada, Mexico and Chile. The same curation, the same standards, the same hand-packed envelope. It just travels farther now.

Because they take the little things seriously.
In Japan, a pen isn't "just a pen." It's the result of decades of engineering devoted to the experience of writing. Pilot has been perfecting that feeling since 1918. Pentel invented the modern mechanical pencil. Kokuyo designed the notebook that lies flat at 180° without breaking the spine.
That's what Karito Japan curates: products made with an attention to detail you notice from the very first use. Every item was hand-picked. Tested. Approved.
For you, if you're someone who loves to add to the collection.
The person I picture opening a Karito Japan package is someone who loves to create. Who enjoys adding something new to their bag — for school, for work, for journaling, for scrapbooking.
Someone who values quality not as a luxury, but as self-respect. Who loves color, clever innovations and the feeling of using something for the first time that was made with intention.
Someone who opens an envelope and already knows what's inside is worth it.
Come in, look around, fall in love.
